After sustaining injuries and leaving the military, KC worked as a contractor in Iraq in 2007. During that time, he recorded his second album, My Car and My Guitar (2008). One of its tracks, “That’s Just Me,” was featured in the indie film 50 States, A Horse With No Name

KC returned to Texas in 2010, married his wife Bianca, and earned a degree from Texas State University in 2013. However, he faced significant health challenges related to his military service, which temporarily sidelined his music career. In 2020, he made a strong comeback with the release of “The Machinist,” a powerful anthem inspired by a fellow contractors brother.
